The Deep Peace Of Common Sense

While listening to a 14 minute clip I found on YouTube entitled “Breaking Addiction to Negative thinking”, Eckhart Tolle states: “stopping our addiction to thinking is a most difficult change to make”. Our brains are skilled at analyzing, judging, making comparisons, which are all a part of the executive function of our brains. However, there is also the capability of emptying the mind, and becoming more in tune with sensory information. Sensory information comes through our 5 senses: touch, taste, smell, vision and hearing. Intuition is often called the 6th sense. If we allow sensory information into our awareness, it will bring us precisely into the present moment. When we are present with WHAT IS, we are no longer thinking, we just are. The suggestion is to practice being present to sensation, your body, your surroundings.

Common sense helps us make better decisions during uncomfortable situations. There is a practical solution, in even complicated times. Living in the past or the future causes conflict, because one is a memory and the other is a fantasy. Being fully present, deeply listening, caring and sharing our unique talents with the world takes practice! In the moment, we can choose action over inaction, hate over love, listening or responding. Every human has sensory information to rely on. It is one aspect of our common humanity.

When it comes to community rights, awareness and compassion are necessary. Action is needed when we hear about the suffering of those who have less than we do. Common sense arises, when we become compassionate, and we are operating from this present place. It makes us ask, “what can I do to bring justice and harmony” “What is mine to do?” If we have inner conflict, we are distracted, perpetuating more conflict. This adds to the problems of the world, not the solution.

Dr. Milton Trager had a vision of his work The Trager Approach “ to create peace in the world, one person at a time”. A session that creates that deep, inner peace, and allows even the subconscious mind to relax and let go, is worth experiencing. There is healing in that place. When we heal ourselves, we are available to help others, and tap into our real work in this world.

The Trager Approach creates deep peace.
