Sleep And Stress
Every day, I wake up to a question: where will I walk today, where will I be able to connect fully with myself, the Earth, others?? Perhaps like you, I am often sidetracked by projects and don't always keep a tight schedule, reading late or movie watching. I am working on better sleep hygiene in this time of "less busy than usual." Overall, my commitment to do a walk around the river corridor where I live happens 3-4 times a week, and on weekends 1-2 longer hikes as well. Most weeks I meet my goals. I love the great outdoors., I feel the freshness of clean air, which is a forest bath of a different nature!!
Staying active has certainly been a challenge, but with family, or a friend or two meeting at a trailhead, I feel connected to myself and others. Some of my favorite haunts are the beautiful Columbus Metro Parks: Battelle-Darby Creek, Clear Creek, Prairie Oaks, Highbanks, Scioto Mile (urban is nice, too!). Going further south are our Ohio State Parks: A.W.Marion, Hocking Hills, Great Seal, Scioto Trail, Shawnee and Lake Vesuvius. There are 75 Ohio State Parks and you can find them here: https://www.stateparks.com/ohio_parks_and_recreation_destinations.html
I have also been staying connected by signing up for 1-2 weekly online Mentastics classes with the Trager community, both taking classes and teaching them. Here is a link to classes for the public on the U.S.Trager Approach website that have been recorded, but you can also explore the site for other free classes as well as some for a small fee. I am teaching today from 1-2 for free, and have a class on Tues. You do need to sign up on the website. This is a great way to continue your own professional development and self care skills! Trager principles apply and transfer to all knowledge bases, it is grounded in peaceful, self awareness. Who would not benefit from that? https://www.tragerapproach.us/ Check out the videos! If you are a member, join me this Friday, 3/3 for an hour of play, 1-2 EST. The link came to your mailbox just now.
I am alive with a desire to teach right now, developing material for my online classes and this is feeding my creative side. Along with trading loads of sessions with my peers: Karyn Deibel (Trager), Michael Loukas (Rolfing and S.E.), Rachel Dora (Massage), Steve Rendina (Tui' Na and Chi Gong), I want to give a special shout out to Jim Maneri, for being a great jazz piano teacher with a penchant for the Trager Approach! Our trades have been rich and allowed me to improve my musicianship over the last year with a lot of laughter and amazement at your skill and knowledge. I highly recommend each of these folks, who are open to working with you. We are all doing sessions safely, in-person (and for me online), and please feel free to call me if you need a referral or resource, coaching, or a session to help you keep moving through the winter! Move every joint, every day, and remember the feeling of your last session! If you've forgotten, call for a tune up!
