I have TMJ

Everyone does, that’s because it we all have a temporal mandibular joint (TMJ). If you you did not have one, you would not be able to talk or eat! When someone tells me or their dentist they have “TMJ”, what they mean is, I have pain in my jaw, my jaw is tight, or I hear clicking when I move my jaw. This can get serious, so let’s do something, fast!

If caught early enough, these symptoms are able to be relieved with self care, Trager style. If that is not something you know how to do, I can teach you. For now you can practice this simple trick. Pretend you are chewing gum. Go s l o w l y. Keep it small in the beginning, then a little bigger. Stay in the comfort zone. Let your fingers hang out on the jawline and feel this movement. Gently poke around and help out.

Externally, allow your soft hands to find the curve of the lower jaw. Feel the hard and soft areas above and below. Open and close your jaw and notice how each side is a little different. Play with the belly of the muscle along the jawline. It should feel like a little pillow in the middle. I will teach you.

SELF CARE FOR YOUR JAW IS DENTAL HEALTH CARE!

You can help your jaw feel better!
