Renegade Beauty, Book Review

Renegade Beauty, Reveal and Revive Your Natural Radiance! , was written by Nadine Artemis, published in 2017 by North Atlantic Books, in Berkeley, CA.. It was a gift given to me at Christmas, and I am now about two thirds of the way through it, and wanted to share this great resource with all of you!

Each chapter focuses on an aspect of health and vitality and goes along with my desire for natural health; whether it is purchasing a product, walking on a trail or fixing a meal. Environmental implications are considered and articulated in a non-biased manner. The book is weighty, in color, full of pictures, never mincing words, rather getting straight to the point, poetically, and supported with current research.

From a holistic approach, Ms. Artemis integrates whole ideas so that we see the total picture, from cellular health to connecting with nature. Our earth is likened to our selves, ourselves reflect the planetary concerns. Nature has shown us the way, but it is for us to consider how we have rejected those ways many times.

There is no political agenda here, just the complex simplicity of pure nature, and reading this book has left me with a feeling of the possibility of greater self healing, and a need to look more closely at the products that surround me. I am motivated to read labels more closely, especially what is being put in my mouth, on my skin or in my bathing routine. Natural recipes of easy to find ingredients are in almost every chapter that promote health and won’t damage your skin and organs nor pollute the earth.

I resonate with one of the quotes on the back cover “Simply reading Renegade Beauty made me feel more beautiful. Nadine’s scientific and poetic style equals the lavish abundance of nature that she extols to restore.” Carol Ault.
