Amore Dopo Amore
Love After Love, A poem by Derek Walcott. I found this poem in a small green book, on the shelf, in the cabin I live in here at the Mill. The cabin is where Adele does her Trager sessions, about 500 yards above the mill on the side of the hill. The hillside is planted with food, and she is just planting thier winter garden. I watered for her last night, lots of red blooming geraniums, and herbs, a rosemary bush about 5ft high and wide she planted 20 years ago, when they bought this place. Love After Love
The time will come when, with elation, you will greet yourself arriving at your own door Tempo vera' in cui, con esultanza, saluterai te stesso arrivato alla tua porto
in your own mirror, and each will smile at the other's welcome, and say, sit here, eat nel tuo proprio specchio, benevenutoe ognunno sorridera' al ch dell'atro e dira: Siedi qui, mangia
(The rest in English)
GIve wine, give bread, give back your heart to itself, to the stranger who has loved you all your life, whom you ingnored for another, who knows you by heart. take down the loveletters from the bookshelf, the photographs, the desparate notes, peel your own image from the mirror. Sit Feast on your life.
This poem is such a reminder for me, as I let go of busyness...I am enjoying this life, my life here and at home, and wish it more for all of us!
Recipe for today: Florentine tomatoes~little beauties, brilliantly red and very ripe, (so tightly packed with flavor they are wrinkled! I have never seen them in Ohio ) ; about 10, cut into small pieces. Heat olive oil, add garlic, parsley and stop and smell!!! Adele says this combination is unbeatable...she is right! Add tomatoes and fresh rosemary . Pasta al dente of your choice. We had Tagliatelle, wide noodles. Grate Parmesean on top, liberally....mangia!
